The Amotions are the result of the superposition of two layers of vertical scaled patterns. There was originally the idea to create a kind of artificial photogram in the computer. But finally the generated results are different from the shadow pictures. The pictorial space of the photogram attracts and absorbs the spectator, but in front of the superposed scales the spectator tends to step back. |
Die Amotionen enstehen aus der Überlagerung von jeweils zwei vertikalen Verlaufsmustern. Stand bei dem Ansatz ursprünglich im Vorderung, eine Art künstliches Photogramm im Rechner zu generieren, so verhalten sich die bildlichen Resultate gänzlich anders als die Schattenbildwelt der Photogramme. Zieht der photogrammatische Bildraum meist den Betrachter in das Bild hinein, so tritt der Betrachter bei den überlagerten Verläufen tendenziell erst einen Schritt zurück. |

This contrary motion backwards gave the idea for the title Amotion. The naming of the series hints also ironically at physiological adverse effects watching the picture too much time – an amotio retinae is the medical synonym for an ablation of the retina. |
Die Bewegung des Betrachters weg vom Bild war ausschlaggebende für den Titel Amotionen. Die Namensgebung der Serie spielt aber auch ironisch auf mögliche physische Nebenwirkungen an, so bezeichnet eine amotio retinae in der Medizin die Ablösung der Netzhaut.
