The barroco cycle refers to the gemstone as an auratic object and a precursor of optical glasses. By the physical contact of the sublime mineral with the photosensitive film an aura of a tactile atmosphere emanates from the resulting shadow pictures.
The confidential collaboration with the gemmologist Prof. Dr. Hermann Bank facilitated to record in spring 2003 systematically the most important gemstones. In his impressive private collection in Idar-Oberstein - the German capital of gemstone industry - shadow pictures of about 50 different types of minerals were made, mainly of natural untreated rough gemstones.
